A credible lighting choice accounts for the complete system: how the beam is formed, how the light activates, where it is carried and how it is restored for the next shift.
Lumens and candela
Lumens measure total output. Candela measures beam intensity. Broad flood can produce more lumens; concentrated intensity creates greater reach.
Direct activation
Tail switches support immediate access. Side switches and selectors give controlled access to lower outputs for routine work without unnecessary glare.
Accessible beats impressive
A torch only works if it is carried consistently and can be reached under pressure. Check size, weight, clip, holster and mounting format.
